Why are all of the Divine Child High School Yearbooks, dating back to 1962, titled Clarion?
As a newspaper might be titled The Daily Bugle, Divine Child High School's first yearbook staff called themselves and their book Clarion. Clarion is the name for a shrill, narrow-tubed war trumpet used in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. When signaling commands, a trumpeter needed to be loud and clear. Clarion may also be used in the form an adjective...to be loud and clear. Clarion" derives from three Latin words: the noun clario (trumpet), the adjective clarus (bright or clear), and the verb claro (to make clear).
While it is just a title, and not a dedication in honor of a historical figure, it is our intent to preserve one of Divine Child High School's oldest and most deeply rooted traditions.
This page is a new resource, and we are steadily adding information we feel might best assist you in answering commonly asked questions about our yearbooks and portrait sessions. If you feel that you need further assistance, we would be happy to assist you.
