Theatre

This course is designed to give the student exposure to the performance aspect of theater through mime, improvisation and character development. Emphasis will be on the use of the body as a tool for effective communication and on interpretive vocal qualities. While a fine arts elective, Acting 1 will still require major papers and performances.

This course, a continuation of Acting 1, provides the student with intensive study of purposeful stylistic movement, acting with others onstage, and extensive character development. Students will perform monologues and scenes from classic through modern drama with the intention of adding to their performance repetoir and portfolio. Extensive time will also be allocated to preparation for auditions and working in a professional setting.

This course is a hands-on introduction to the understanding, design, crafting, and execution of theatrical production. Students will develop on both design and construction in several areas, which include: set design and construction, painting, lighting design and hanging, costume and make-up design and sound design.
