The idea of a faith based education allows us to teach our students through the eyes of God where we can encourage positive behavior and the development of good Catholic values. The social interactions that the students experience, male and female, create an atmosphere conducive to teaching the whole person, faith, education and values

Theology
We are committed to rigorous theological work with the goal of preparing our students to meet the challenges of the world thoughtfully, prayerfully and intentionally. At the heart of that work is our commitment to helping our students build an intimate and lifelong relationship with Christ. We are driven by our belief that Catholic education exists to create disciples who will serve Christ in their local communities and in the world. Our goal is to foster in all of our students a love of the faith, a commitment to lifelong learning and an ability and willingness to explain and defend the faith.
Building on our foundational belief that all people have dignity as they are created in the image and likeness of God, our goal is to equip our students with the necessary intellectual, moral and spiritual tools and sensibilities necessary to engage faithfully and responsively in the world. Inspired by Christ’s Gospel message, we promote lives of virtue and emphasize our awareness that we are uniquely called to serve God. Our community actively celebrates its faith together in the following ways:
- Daily Prayer
- Daily Theology classes
- Weekly Eucharistic Adoration
- Monthly in-school opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as opportunities during Advent and Lent
- Weekly Mass and/or spiritual programming ("The Great Adventure")
- Annual Retreats for all grades

English
The English Department at Divine Child High School works toward instilling strong reading and writing skills that will transcend their students' high school years, into college, and beyond. We not only help students develop critical thinking skills in response to literature and other texts, but also coach them into recognizing how literature connects to the lives of people across time and space. Additionally, we strive to foster writing skills that allow our students to showcase their mastery in crafting a position alongside strong evidence, analyze and reflect on themes found in both the canon and contemporary texts, and creatively explore the world around them through various models of writing.

Mathematics
Our goal is to successfully prepare our students with critical thinking and problem solving skills while promoting a faith based education. Every student can be successful with the right support group and as a department we strive to meet the needs of, not only the class as a whole, but each student individually. We encourage critical thinking and incorporate problem solving opportunities in all of our classrooms. We offer levels of classes that will not only challenge the students but prepare their skill sets for college and the rest of their lives.

Science
Divine Child High School science students will work towards masterly learning* the key science themes addressed in each course they enroll in while learning how to work collaboratively and to communicate effectively using evidence and logic, while sorting, analyzing, and critiquing information. Development of critical thinkings skills and scientific literacy capacity are key focus areas. Our science teachers create appropriate challenges for each student, constantly suggesting ideas and connections to follow. As a result of their experience with our science department, students are well-prepared for higher level learning as well as bringing their scientific literacy skills to bear on issues that will affect their families and their communities.
*Masterly learning defined as: students who are able to apply principles of an area of study to new and unique situation. The students' ability to do this reflects their depth of learning; not that they have memorized unrelated science facts.

Social Studies
The Social Studies department instills in students the skills of critical thinking, analytical writing, and civil argumentation that allow our students to effectively communicate and contribute in an increasingly global society. Our curriculum develops a strong foundation of our national and global histories, as well as a sound competency in the social sciences, so that students may become informed and responsible contributors to their community. Education in the social studies embraces the inclusion of all students as diversity among learners embraces the democratic principles our nation was founded upon and develops students into thoughtful and discerning citizens. The social studies department establishes connections between experiences of the past and the lives of our students, encouraging all to become responsible and active leaders during and beyond their time at Divine Child High School.
