More Than Fifty Years of Tradition

Our high school years are about more than just studying. They are about learning and growing as a person, and forming friendships to last a lifetime. It's the after-hours events, the time spent with new friends, that make Divine Child the warm and inviting school that it is.



Traditional Events

Frosh Slosh


Hello Freshmen! This welcome dance is hosted by the National Honor Society and is the official kick-off of your Divine Child High School career.

Leadership Mass


We celebrate our student leaders and ask God's blessings upon them as they fulfill their student leadership roles.

Junior Ring Day


Juniors receive their class rings, which are blessed during this Liturgy. Congratulations, Juniors, you are now officially upperclassmen.

Senior Hayride


One of many Seniors-only events. Go out in style...in a wagon full of hay!

Science Fair


Our best and our brightest present their Science Projects the last weekend in January. Everyone is invited to view the project displays after Sunday Mass.

Sadie Hawkins Dance


Will he say yes? Girls, it's your turn to ask the guys out to this mid-Winter dance!

Winter Fest


We chase away the winter blahs with a second "Spirit Week" held right around St. Valentine's Day!

World Languages Week


Foreign language and culture is showcased and celebrated throughout the week. Empanadas, anyone?

College Night


It's time! Start planning for college with this informative evening for Juniors and their parents.

Atrium Art Show


Our talented artists' work is on display during this Spring showcase.

Fashion Show & Tea


This lively event, presented by the Clothing and Pastry Arts classes, showcase student creations of all kind!

Junior/Senior Prom


Our traditional formal dance takes place in early May each year. Sophomores who are invited by a Junior or Senior are welcomed to attend as well.

Senior Coffee House


Junior parents organize this tribute to the Seniors, where students come to enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, and live student music.

Senior Breakfast


Eat up! This is the last time the Seniors are together as a group before graduation. After breakfast, it's off to graduation rehearsal!

Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation


Commencement ceremonies take place each May at The Church of the Divine Child.

Senior Lock-In Party


Seniors get the run of the school for a night as they celebrate food, fun, friends, and FREEDOM!

Homecoming Spirit Week

Welcome Home!

Homecoming Liturgy


We celebrate Falcon spirit and ask for God's blessings upon our school family throughout the year.

Pep Rally


Wear your spirit gear, and get revved up on Friday before the game and cheer for the the Homecoming Court.

Spirit Games


Which class will win the Spirit Award this year? These lively competitions (tricycle races, anyone?) help determine the overall class Spirit Winner for the week.

Float Building


Which class can build the best theme-based float? And who's going to drive it? Come help build the float and find out!

Parade


Made up of class floats, the Marching Band, Homecoming Court, Cheerleaders, the Pom Pon team, and representatives from each class level, this raucous group parades from Divine Child to the Varsity Football game field.

The Game


The football game takes place on Saturday afternoon and features the announcement of the Homecoming Queen. Go Falcons!

Dance


Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can attend the dance, either as couples or individuals.

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration across the country of the important role Catholic elementary and secondary schools play in providing an education that emphasizes not only academics, but also spiritual, moral, and social values.

Honors Assembly


This is an all-school assembly where academic achievement is recognized and honored.

Liturgy


Typically celebrated by the Bishop, celebrating our Catholic heritage and tradition.

Mr. Falcon Contest (odd years)


A contest for our young men, done in jest, that reflects the competition normally found in a beauty contest. Representatives from each grade level are voted on by the student body.

Faculty Revue and Talent Show (even years)


A set of comedic skits done in jest, performed by the students mimicking various faculty members in classroom situations.

The Monsignors Herman W. Kucyk & Herbert F. Weier Scholarship Recital


A concert held at the end of Catholic Schools Week. It features performances by our Senior class members. The proceeds from this recital provide college scholarships to seniors in financial need.
