The 16th Annual Falcon 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run Presented By The Jack Demmer Automotive Group was held on Saturday, August 16th. With the sun shining down, this year's turnout reached nearly 300 participants. The race is dedicated to the memory of DC track coach Mark Carpenter. We were honored to have Mark's wife Cathy volunteer to help at the race while his children participated in the runs. The 1-Mile Fun Run started at 8:45. The start and finish of the 1-mile were the same as the 5K event.
The 5 K run loops around the north side of the pool, then proceeds south on Denwood, west on Coburn, onto Silvery Lane passing the 1 mile mark just before the cheering crowd at the church, to Doxtator, back over to Denwood, to Coburn, Silvery Lane, left into the church driveway, and the long anticipated finish banner.
Scott Setzke, age 27, of Farmington led the field across the finish line in 15:41, beating second place finisher Joe Horka by 7 seconds. Tim House of Livonia was third in with 15:53. Overall top 3 women runners were Emily Master with a time of 19:39, followed by Sara Sherwood of Plymouth with a time of 19:56 and third place going to Erika Crane with a time of 20:30. Congratulations to all of our runners!
